Restoring Hope Program

The Restoring Hope Program became a part of Friendship House in 2023. Everything we do through Restoring Hope is centered on empowering our neighbors while also equipping and mobilizing the local church to lead the way. See below for our areas of focus with the Restoring Hope Program.

For more info, contact us at friends@friendshiphouseroanoke.org or call us at 540-343-5437.

Link2Hope’s aim is to connect individuals and families with people and resources in the Roanoke Valley to empower and encourage them in real relationships. We believe that God calls each of us to love each other and help each other grow, and we’d love to learn and grow with you.

Link2Hope is an online platform that is completely mobile friendly.  That means you can access it on your smartphone just like you would an app. You can access it here.

Recent graduates of our English tutor training gather for a class photo. Looking forward to seeing how they put their new skills to use!

Church Mobilization

We are passionate about helping local churches engage with their communities. We help church leaders and congregations create and carry out customized plans for meeting their neighbors, learning their needs, and engaging in ways that are helpful (rather than hurtful), while pointing others to Jesus.

Through seminars and events, such as Helping Without Hurting, Equipping Allies, and English tutor training, we equip churches and individuals with skills. Through these learned skills, the local church can then reach their communities with the hope of Christ and make connections between believers, churches, and ministries.

We are creating a network of people passionate about reaching the Roanoke Valley with the Gospel.  Our staff continues to grow in our knowledge of ministries of mercy and empowerment in order to help you facilitate growth and find the right resources for your church.

Empowerment

Through partnerships with local churches, we aim to offer miniseries of empowerment to our neighbors. Our current offerings include:

Jobs for Life: A class for the unemployed and underemployed to see their value in God’s eyes and apply that to the work world.

Faith & Finances: A course that teaches basic financial skills useful to lower-income individuals and families. Throughout the session, Biblical principles are taught that highlight Christ’s restoration of all things.

English Club: Started in 2022, this is an English class for our refugee and immigrant neighbors. We are one of the only ESL classes in the region that provides both childcare and transportation for families, thus removing a major barrier for our refugee and immigrant friends.

English Club gathers for class, led by our team of local volunteers from various congregations.

Resource Site

We offer an updated website of faith-based and community resources which offer a wide range of services in the Roanoke area. You can visit that site here.
